Over the years I have spoken to a lot of leaders. So many (maybe too many) really struggle with how to deal with talented individuals, and exceptional performers. In many of these cases it is the ego of the leader that gets in the way.
As a leader, if your team does well, then success is reflected on you - now surely that must stroke everyone's ego? Our job as leaders is to support those we lead - whether they report to us directly or not. Its not written in many job descriptions (and that's probably a whole new topic) - but it is what we should be paid to do.
